“ I was super impressed with their rice burrito varieties and I got the purple rice with pork belly! It was very thick and packed with filling which was a plus. I've also tried their black soy milk and that paired perfectly with the rice burrito. The location is a bit rough in terms of parking and I did have to wait an additional 10 min for the food to be ready but overall I'd get this spot again. ”
“ Good as always. This time, I decided to try the Purple Vegetarian Rice Burrito, and it was pretty good. I really liked the fried shallots that replicated the texture of pork floss. The service was on-time because I ordered ahead. The ambiance was a ghost kitchen. ”
“ This is one of those local kitchen spots that's meant for takeout orders, as there's only one picnic table outside. We stopped by on a Saturday afternoon lusting for some Taiwanese food. I'll start by saying this place is not in the nicest neighborhood, and street parking in the area wasn't easy to find. We ordered the Purple Rice Fantuan with Pork Floss and the Crispy King Trumpet Mushrooms. We then yeeted it out of there real fast to enjoy our food in a nice upscale park in nearby Atherton! Purple Rice Fantuan with Pork Floss (4/5): This gluttonous glutinous tight rice wrap has some serious GIRTH to it and weighs as much as Chipotle burrito! That fried dough and sticky purple rice synthesizes a savory harmony of guilty carbs. The piggy furry pork floss is fine enough for me floss my teeth with after! They did forget the pickled radish though. For its low price, this fantuan is a steal! Crispy King Oyster Mushrooms (4/5): These bouncy pieces of royal fungi are lathered up in a savory coating of popcorn chicken-like batter and spices. Would've definitely been crispier eating it right when it came out. I love the crispy fried basil leafs tossed in there as well! Overall, good food but sketch location is a bit of a deterrent for future visits. Make sure you have a plan in mind of where to eat before coming as well! ”
“ Wow was really impressed with this place! I was not expecting much from this random pickup window. Heard about it from a friend otherwise I would not give it a try. They specialize in Taiwanese Fantuan. I really liked the braised pork with purple rice. We got the red pork plate bento also which was very good. Portion and taste was on point. Food took about 15 minutes after ordering. No parking available and no seating. ”
“ They have some unique finds for a ghost kitchen. I love the burritos and the desserts . ”
“ recently try Taiwanese eats through DoorDash for lunch at work and was pleasantly surprised to see that there were rice burritos available. as a takeout option, it still arrived warm in my hands - and the food was still very tasty and fresh. excited to check out this place in person, myself one of these days and update my review/provide a more extensive review then! The ingredients wrapped within the burrito is pretty delicious and I appreciate the options between purple rice versus white rice! ”
“ This is a pretty good spot for Fan Tuan! They operate out of a ghost kitchen and is a pick up only spot. You will have to place your order off their website and come collect your order. Parking can be hard to find, so the best option is to have someone drop you off to grab the food. I've only gotten the Fan Tuan (Rice Burritos), but the Red Vinasse Pork Bento is appealing (maybe I'll try that one day). My go-to order is the Purple Sticky Rice Roll with Pork Floss. I've also tried the Swordfish Floss and it was tasty as well. The prices for the Rice Burritos are very fair, compared to other Bay Area places, this is definitely on the cheaper side for lunch. If you're looking to try Fan Tuan and other Taiwanese eats, give this place a try! ”
“ Taiwanese Eats offers fan tuans (AKA rice burritos), bentos, and a variety of appetizers. While the bentos aren't bad, my favorite is their fan tuans which are absolutely delicious! In comparison to Xiaoman Riceburritos which only offers options with pork floss, you can also get fan tuans filled with Swordfish Floss or Braised Pork at Taiwanese Eats. Both fan tuan places are good and the fan tuans are around the same price and size so this may just depend more on your preference / location. Their soy milk is also really good and comes in these fun, capri-shaped bags! Taiwanese Eats doesn't have its own storefront but serves food out of Redwood City Eats, a restaurant co-op similar to Local Kitchen where you can order food from various partnering restaurants either online for pick-up/delivery or via a kiosk if you arrive in person. Unlike Local Kitchens, there is no seating available at Redwood City Eats - all orders are to-go only. Also, there is minimal parking available so you may need to circle around a bit to find street parking. Overall, this is a great option if you're looking for fan tuans in the Bay! ORDER: |-| Purple Sticky Rice Roll with Pork Floss ($7.99) |-| Sticky Rice Roll with Swordfish Floss ($7.20) |-| Black Bean Soy Milk ($4.99) - Made with non-GMO soybeans and nutrient-rich black beans |-| Soy Milk ($4.50)- House made from non-GMO soybeans |-| Fried Chicken Cutlet Bento ($15.50) - Good portion size, chicken was well fried and had good flavor. Only complaint is that they used chicken breast so some of the pieces were a bit dry. ”
“ Summary: Actually the best fantuan in the Bay Area?! Details: This ghost kitchen has been on my radar for quite a while now, but given how far out it is, it's usually a hard sell to my partner, who'd rather find an actual sit-down restaurant. Fortunately for me, we were in a rush the other weekend, and an easy to-go option was exactly what we needed. And how glad I am for it, because they served up what is probably the best fantuan I've had in the Bay, ever since Taiwanese Bento in the East Bay closed up shop. While I found the rice a little too wet, their youtiao was shatteringly crisp, and there was a good stuffing amount of other ingredients in there as well. That said, we found the pork floss much tastier than the swordfish floss, which was a bit TOO fishy for us. The braised pork rice bowl was also done quite well. Not exactly authentic, but we found this to be a good thing, because authentic means overly sweet, and theirs was definitely not that: that said, it did venture into a bit overly salted territory, even when paired with the rice. Their soy milks were also solid, with the black bean one being much more interesting than their regular. Accessibility: Just a pickup spot, so accessible if you can get to the shop itself: given its location, parking is pretty impossible, and the street is so narrow that stopping and putting up hazards for too long isn't great either. Ideally, go with someone who can hop off and nab the food for a quick in and out! ”
“ Great takeout only place in rwc! Love that we have this option when we're normally devoid of Taiwanese food in this stretch of peninsula. Pros: Freshly prepared, relatively fast service with easy ordering through their website / using applepay The rice burritos are so good and I love that there's a black rice option! Delicious red yeast fried pork chop - hard to come by this dish! Cons: Very little parking on a narrow street- it's a pickup kitchen so you're literally in and out and might need to throw on your hazard lights / stand, but bring a car buddy to move your car in a pinch Pickup procedure can be a little confusing- I already had texts that the food was ready but when I scanned the QR code upon arrival i got a message the food was still being prepared. It actually was done and sitting there so glad I didn't end up driving away to wait elsewhere. ”
